Tilly Reed

Chief of Party, Civil Society and Media Leadership Program in Liberia

Tilly oversees the Civil Society and Media Leadership Program in Liberia (CSML), a USAID-funded program whose goal is to sustain peace in Liberia through greater inclusion, informing, engaging, and giving a voice to Liberian citizens. She is also the Co-Chair of IREX’s Conflict Community of Practice.

Through this program, at least 130 civil society organizations in seven counties will gain organizational development, advocacy, and networking skills to measurably increase their ability to link their constituents’ views to the public policy process. The result will be, higher quality information from more independent and interactive sources as the project raises journalists’ professional skills and strengthens media outlets.

Tilly has over 20 years of experience in development work both in the United States and internationally.    Prior to joining IREX in March 2010, she managed five-star hotels for 27 years, developed and managed projects for the University of Texas at Brownsville, served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in the Slovak Republic, and acted as Chief of Party for civil society/media programs in Bulgaria and Afghanistan with Counterpart International.

At the age of 42, Tilly returned to university and received a BA in Spanish/Spanish Education from the University of Texas, graduating summa cum laude.
