Kathy Evans

Director, Civil Society Division

As the Civil Society Division Director, Kathy provides leadership and administrative, financial and programmatic oversight to a team of 35 development professionals and an extensive portfolio of more than 20 U.S. government and privately funded programs focused on citizen engagement, advocacy, youth and women’s empowerment, conflict mediation, technology, and NGO capacity-building programs in the Middle East, Europe & Eurasia and Africa.

Kathy also has responsibility for division operational systems, staff oversight, ensures that all fiscal and performance activities are in compliance with IREX policies and procedures & USG regulations, and contributes to new business development efforts, including assessments and proposal writing.

In addition to her work at IREX Kathy has also worked on HIV/AIDS, family planning, reproductive health, gender, informal education, environment, and community development programs at international development organizations and for USAID, the US Embassy in Ghana, and the World Bank. 

You may not know...

Kathy spent more than 12 years living in Africa and the Caribbean, including Tanzania, Kenya, Ghana and St. Vincent and the Grenadines and was a Peace Corps Volunteer in Tanzania.
